Chateau La Croix Romane, Lalande de Pomerol

The Chateau La Croix Romane was renamed by the Dubard family in recognition of the rich local history. The church of Lalande de Pomerol, close to the estate, was built in the XIIth century; it is romanesque, a period in art history dating from the year 1030 to the first half of the XIIth century. The church was built under the aegis of the hospitalers of St John of Jerusalem (that were later known as “The Knights of Malta”); their insignia, an eight-pointed white cross, has become the emblem for the wines of Lalande de Pomerol.

Ornellaia, Bolgheri Superiore, 2015

Our production philosophy revolves around Ornellaia’s obsession with excellence - at all levels. Every choice we make is of absolute importance and implies an all-consuming attention to detail. At no point in the production process are shortcuts allowed or tolerated, and this is how we succeed harvesting grapes that are of the very highest quality irrespective of the climatic conditions in that particular year.

Intense, concentrated and deep ruby-colored, this wine offers elegant, complex aromas of red fruit. In the mouth it is rich and dense, yet harmonious, with sweet, balanced tannins. The wine has a long finish with a depth and structure that ensure its extraordinary longevity.
